Notice to Residents | Brossard : Major Work Blitzes this Fall
September 8, 2022 Champlain Deconstruction – Brossard

The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) wishes to inform you that major work blitzes will take place this fall in the Brossard area as part of the deconstruction of the original Champlain Bridge. Between mid-September and the month of November, the work will consist of removing the modular trusses supporting the structure, in addition to deconstructing the spans located over Highway 132, as well as the piers that support them.

 

Impacts on Mobility

 

  • 6 weekend blitzes between September and November from Friday 11 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m.
  • Weekday night closure in September only
  • Complete closure of Highway 132 OR Marie-Victorin Boulevard, either in one direction or in both directions at the same time

The schedule could be modified based on the progress of the work and the weather conditions.


Other Anticipated Impacts 
 
  • Continuous day and night work
  • Impact and operation noise/possible exceedance of noise criteria at night 
  • Visible dust in the vicinity of the site

 

Mitigation Measures 
 
  • Monitoring of noise levels by real-time sound level meters 
  • Use of misters to reduce dust
  • Real-time monitoring of air quality 


Virtual Public Information Meeting on Monday, September 19 at 7:00 p.m.

 

JCCBI, in collaboration with NHSL, will hold a public information meeting to present the above work and impacts thereof, as well as to answer questions from citizens.
