Your duties

JCCBI is looking for a Business Analyst, Data Management to help fulfill the mission of the Information Resources Department which is stated as follows: Our department uses its expertise to deploy, incorporate, and leverage technologies and information to support best practices in decision-making.

 

Main duties

Reporting to the Director, Information Resources, you will oversee routine data management and business intelligence activities. Your main responsibilities will be to advise, analyze, document, align and integrate information needs while upholding the quality of management information in compliance with information governance. You will provide expertise to support the Corporation’s business sectors that handle data management.

  • Help the business sectors define their needs for reports, dashboards, indicators and process automation.
  • Translate business rules into functional rules for the Corporation’s data architecture or enterprise architecture.
  • Develop and maintain a technology roadmap for the development of the systems under your responsibility and keep track of this roadmap.
  • Produce training and guides for super users.
  • Manage the technological environment to generate reports.
  • Share knowledge with and mentor and train super users in these business sectors to transfer knowledge.
  • In collaboration with the Business Analyst, Integrated Information Management Architecture, monitor developments in business intelligence, particularly for the production of management information as well as technological tools, metadata and documentation.
  • Maintain the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of data in the systems under your responsibility according to the established categorization.
  • Support consultants and manage their design and development of data pipelines to extract data from different sources, transfer this data to the desired format, and save and present this data in the appropriate systems.
  • Supervise the optimization of the data pipeline and data flows to enhance performance, scalability and efficiency.
  • Translate business needs into analysis/reporting requirements to support management decisions and workflows with the required information.
  • Coordinate with super users in the business sectors to understand their information needs and identify ways to show and present information in a user-friendly way.
  • Work closely with managers, super users, business analysts, and information architects to improve how information is viewed by developing dashboards and user interfaces.
  • Develop analytics strategies.
  • Use analytics methods to resolve issues by understanding the problem, identifying relevant data, collecting and summarizing data in a meaningful way, and applying the appropriate statistical analysis.
  • Transform complex data into easy-to-follow reports with graphs, diagrams and dashboards.
  • Validate, clean and integrate data from different sources, such as databases, data warehouses, sensors, instruments, APIs and external systems while keeping this data consistent.
  • Help internal staff make use of the organization’s information assets and analyses to obtain useful information for decision-making and automated decisions and to enhance human performance.
  • Contribute to the governance of the data and algorithms used for analytics, analytical applications, and automated decision-making.
  • Implement data quality controls and validation for data pipelines to ensure data accuracy, consistency and completeness.
  • Transform raw data into a usable format by applying data cleaning, aggregation, filtering and enrichment techniques.
 

Experience and education

  • Hold an undergraduate degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Have five years of experience in information technology, including three years in data management, business intelligence or artificial intelligence.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft 365 tools, including MS Fabric (Power BI and Power Apps).
  • Good knowledge of cloud computing models (SaaS, PaaS, etc.).
  • Demonstrate meticulousness and an ability to write documents, contracts and reports.
  • Good ability to communicate orally and in writing in both official languages.
 

Assets

  • Master’s degree in business intelligence.
  • Understand programming languages.
