There is no annual fixed date for the changeover to winter hours, as this depends on weather conditions. Active mobility users will be informed of the new hours a few days in advance so that they can plan their travel.
Please note: During winter season, information about active mobility is only communicated via:
In the winter, the path can be used between 5:00 a.m. and 10:30 p.m., 7 days a week, when conditions permit. Note that the sidewalk will be closed this winter season due to low use over the past years of winter operation.
During the winter season, the pedestrian tunnel of the Île Sainte-Hélène Pavilion (ISHP), which connects the sidewalk to the path, is closed.

In case of a temporary closure, an email and a publication on X will be sent to subscribers to inform them of the situation.
Between 10:30 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., JCCBI’s teams perform preventive maintenance on the path to minimize closures during operating hours. Weekend closures are sometimes necessary for more in-depth snow removal operations.
It is possible to use the path and sidewalk 24/7, except during the winter when they are closed at night.
Yes, there will be occasional night closures throughout the summer for different types of maintenance work. Please remember that it is essential to adhere to closure notices for safety reasons.
Variable message signs (VMS) are located at the entrances to the multipurpose path on the Longueuil side and the Montréal side of the bridge, informing active mobility users at all times of the path’s condition for greater safety during winter operations (example: Condition yellow – partly ice-covered).
Yes, the pedestrian tunnel of the Île Sainte-Hélène Pavilion (ISHP), which connects the sidewalk to the path, is opened during the regular season.
The sidewalk and the multipurpose path are completely closed between 7:45 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. during these events.
Only pedestrians, strollers and people with reduced mobility have access to the bridge during these events; bicycles are not allowed on the bridge.
The bicycle path of the Champlain Bridge Estacade is open from April to December.
The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) coordinates with the Parc Jean-Drapeau bicycle path network to announce the hours of operation for the bicycle path on the Estacade.
JCCBI is helping to protect the site’s biodiversity with a winter refuge for brown snakes and nesting habitats under the Champlain Bridge Estacade for the largest colony of cliff swallows in Quebec.
As the City of Beauharnois manages the pedestrian traffic on the sidewalk, as well as the maintenance of the sidewalk, JCCBI carries out this closure every winter at the request of the City.
The Honoré Mercier Bridge is administered by both the provincial and federal governments. The bicycle path and sidewalk in the federal section of the Honoré Mercier Bridge have been closed for a few years.
The required work on the bicycle path and sidewalk in the federal section is complete. However, the work currently being done on the Honoré Mercier Bridge is being carried out by the Ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ).
These corridors should be opened once the entire bicycle and pedestrian link, including the section managed by the MTQ, is complete. Please contact the MTQ directly for more details about this work.
