Our approach and commitment
As a manager of important infrastructure, JCCBI is aware that its activities have a major impact on the community and the environment.
Sustainable development is a key component of JCCBI’s mission, vision and practices. It therefore integrates sustainable development into the governance processes that guide the administrative and operational management of the assets under its responsibility. Since 2015, a sustainable development strategy has provided a framework for JCCBI. This strategy is embraced and executed by our employees every day.
In November 2024, JCCBI submitted its report on the 2023-2024 Sustainable Development Strategy. This report describes the progress of the various specific measures taken since the submission of the Federal Sustainable Development Strategy to advance the objectives and targets.

JCCBI takes action as per the 2022 to 2026 Federal Sustainable Development Strategy and is committed to meeting these six UN Sustainable Development Goals through the following activities:

- Study of possibly installing bioretention basins where they would be beneficial
GOAL 10 | Reduced inequalities
Our commitment: Implement the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act

- Close collaboration with the Mohawk community of Kahnawà:ke in the Honoré Mercier Bridge sector
GOAL 11 | Sustainable cities and communities
Our commitments: Invest in active transportation | Develop green space near urban centres | Promote access to green space and natural sites

- Equipment installed on the Jacques Cartier Bridge to improve the experience and safety of active mobility users: standardized signs, radar speed signs, etc.
- Redevelopment of the land under the Jacques Cartier Bridge into an urban path and active mobility corridor

- Studies on ways to improve active and sustainable transportation on our structures
GOAL 12 | Responsible consumption and production
Our commitments: Clean up high-priority contaminated sites | Transform our light vehicle fleet | Improve sustainable procurement criteria | Maximize the amount of waste kept out of landfills
